Full Description
On Monday January 12th I was working at 17714 Everest Ave in Lakeville MN. I was working with Max Batkiewicz, he and I were the only workers on site. Around 10:20AM we passed a rough in inspection and were greeted in the garage by 2 ICE agents. They shook Max’s hand but I declined. One agent said “ooh we have one these guys.” and asked why I wouldn’t shake their hand. I told them “I don’t like or respect what you’re doing, you’re making our jobs take longer and I think you should leave this state.” The two agents began to argue with me about what their job is and how they’re going to be helping us. The agent that appears in the video I attached then dared me to step up and say in to his face. I saw this as an attempt to get me to put myself in a bad position so I declined. The same agent then stepped into my personal space, while he was walking up to me I took my phone out to record him. The phone was slapped out my hand and I was thrown to the ground and arrested after I picked it up and continued to record. The agents told me I would receive a felony for assaulting a federal officer. Not once did I touch the agents unless the contact was initiated by them. I was brought to the Whipple Building around 10:50AM and held in a US Citizen holding cell until 7:30PM when I was released with no charges. While in holding I interviewed with two Department of Homeland Security agents and told them my story. They told me my case would be sent to a higher administration (Attorney General I think is what they told me). I was released because that higher administration did not think they had a case against me. The next day I was let go from my job at Elander Mechanical with “we’re caught up on jobs we’re going to send to back to the hall” being the message given by my employer John Murphy. THIS IS A STATEMENT PROVIDED TO MY UNION ON THIS INCIDENT
