Witnesses described a significant law enforcement presence along Camp Keais Road, where undercover ICE vehicles pulled over a company-owned bus used to transport farmworkers to the fields. A community member, Celeste Morgan, shared video showing several unmarked vehicles and at least one armed federal agent at the scene.
Residents stated that approximately 35 farmworkers were detained. ICE later confirmed that it conducts operations in all 67 Florida counties but declined to provide details without the “alien numbers” of those detained.
Local business owner Jon Ahmad expressed sadness and concern, noting that those detained were “everyday working people” on their way to jobs in the agricultural community. Morgan added that the event created fear among children whose parents might suddenly disappear.
Pacific Tomato Growers said that the bus was transporting domestic workers and stated that the company participates in the E-Verify program, adding that its internal investigation into the incident is ongoing.
