Volunteer ladder
Becoming a trusted volunteer
Everyone starts small and earns more responsibility by doing good, consistent work. Here's how the ladder works and what each step unlocks.

The steps

1. Volunteer
Where everyone starts โ€” Submitter, Sorter, or Confirm. Your work goes into a private review queue; nothing you touch is public until an admin approves it. Just do your role well.
2. Trusted volunteer
After around 50 contributions and a clean record, you can request a review from your profile. Trusted volunteers can edit article pages directly and upload media โ€” you're no longer confined to the queues.
3. Editor
For volunteers who've shown sustained, accurate work. Full content editing and page moves across the wiki. By invitation from the team.
4. Admin
For volunteers who've shown consistent judgement over time. Admins publish confirmed records, handle the queues, and keep people safe. By invitation only โ€” admins are chosen, never self-appointed, because the role can see and act on everything.

How to move up

  • To trusted volunteer: hit 50 contributions, then use the Request a trusted-volunteer review button on your profile.
  • Editor and admin: no application โ€” the team watches for consistent, careful work and reaches out. The best way to get there is simply to keep doing good work.

What we look for

  • Accuracy over speed. A wrong record is worse than a slow one.
  • Care with people's safety and privacy.
  • Following the volunteer guide and sourcing everything.
