Terms of Service. By requesting an account or contributing to the ICE List, you agree to these terms. This is a plain-language summary of how the project works and what we ask of contributors.

What the ICE List is

The ICE List is a public, sourced record of U.S. immigration-enforcement activity - incidents, agencies, facilities, and the officials who carry it out - maintained for accountability, journalism, and research.

Accounts

Accounts are issued at the discretion of the administrators; requesting one does not guarantee approval.
You are responsible for activity under your account. Do not share credentials.
Confined volunteer accounts (submitter, sorter, confirm) can only add to the private review queues - nothing they submit is public until an administrator publishes it.

What we ask of contributors

Source everything. Add a verifiable source for every factual claim. Unsourced or unverifiable material may be removed.
Document official conduct - don't harass. We document the on-duty conduct of public officials and government agencies. Do not post the home addresses, family details, or other private personal information of anyone, and do not use the site to target, threaten, or incite violence against any individual.
No unlawful content. Do not post content that is illegal to publish, infringes copyright (beyond documented fair use), or violates a court order.
Act in good faith. No vandalism, impersonation, spam, or deliberate disinformation.

Privacy and safety

Submitters' identities are not published by the project.
Uploaded evidence in the review queues is private to reviewers and administrators until published.
Do not upload material that endangers a private person's safety.

Content and licensing

Except where noted, text you contribute is released under CC BY-SA 4.0.
Media (photos, covers, screenshots) is used for documentation, commentary, and news reporting; rights remain with their owners.

Enforcement

Administrators may edit, revert, hide, or remove any content, and may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms - immediately and without notice where safety or legality is at stake.

Disclaimer

Content is provided "as is," compiled from public and submitted sources; while we require sourcing, we make no warranty of completeness or accuracy. The project is not legal advice.

Changes

These terms may be updated; continued use means you accept the current version.

This is a working draft - administrators should review it against their own legal judgment.
