Everything on the ICE List is built by volunteers. You don't need experience for most roles — just care, consistency, and a little time. This page shows how the work flows and where to jump in.

Every record moves left to right. Each stage is just a queue; a hand-off advances it. Work whichever stage fits your role.

1. Get access

1. Apply here (short form). You'll get a volunteer login.
2. Your edits go into a review queue until you're comfortable with the workflow.
3. Then take on larger tasks at your own pace — five minutes a day or hours a week, both help.

Triage queues

Incidents grouped by what still needs recording — agents, plates, video, review. On any incident page a Volunteer triage checkbox panel appears; tick what's done and it saves automatically.

Unidentified agents recorded using force. Flag the top ~20 as Most wanted, add video, or create a new entry with the drag-and-drop form.

4. The core actions

Triage an incident

Open any incident page while logged in. Use the Volunteer triage panel to tick what's recorded (agents, plates, video…) and set its stage. Saves automatically.

Tag media

On a media item or the Tag media panel, set the agents, incidents, state and status. Tagged media appears automatically on those agent and incident pages — no manual linking. Use ; between names (page titles contain commas). See ICE List Wiki:Tagging media.

Add or identify a Most Wanted agent

On the board, use the add-agent form (drag-and-drop photo), the Add video field (paste any social link), and the Most wanted toggle. Tips from the public arrive via each entry's Submit info button.

Promote a submission

Open the media queue or intake log, confirm the item is real, create a proper record, tag it, and remove it from the queue.

5. The standards (non-negotiable)

Before you publish

• Two sources minimum. A wrong tag is worse than a missing one. If you can't corroborate it, leave it Unverified and note what's missing.
• Verification lifecycle: Unverified → Pending → Verified. Only move to Verified once the source is located and the date, location and any agent ID are cross-checked.
• Protect bystanders and targets. Agents acting in their official capacity are the subject. People being detained, victims, witnesses and bystanders are not — don't name or expose them.
• Strip metadata (EXIF/GPS) from files before uploading, and only add material that is public or that you have the right to use.
